Maybe in another year they will have figured out how to get the client to run reliably on Windows 10 machines. I have an old vista machine I can log in on to get my points once a month (lifer), but the game runs terribly on it unless I turn the graphics down to 1999 (almost all minimum settings). This is the 3rd time that my client has wigged out and I have had to dig around for a fix since I have been back the last few months. I am going to dig around for a solution for maybe another hour, and then I am uninstalling. However any time I try to increase the resolution or use any other advanced options the client crashes and I get this error. I have reset the graphics as well, that will let me log in. I have also reinstalled direct X from the links here. Now it no longer works, and I am getting this error. In Windows 10 you can go to graphics settings and see what you have.Ĭhanging to 64 bit worked for me last night. I don't know if this is exactly what you are experiencing but it is worth checking. It turns out that Windows 10 has an option to set any application to use the high graphics driver, so I set my lotroclient64.exe to that driver, took it out of compatibility mode, and problem solved. The LOTRO installer couldn't figure this out. One driver is for low power usage, and the other is for high graphics usage. Next I discovered that my system shipped with two video drivers, as some newer systems do. I initially made some progress by running LOTRO in Windows compatibility mode. One is that new systems don't always have the older direct-x installed, nor the dx10 or dx11. There were a couple of problems contributing to this. I had similar problems when I tried to install LOTRO on a new computer that also had DX12. Is this a new problem? or is there a fix ? I looked up my dxdiag, and it says I have DIRECT-X v12! LOTRO Crashes, saying I need DIRECT-X v9.
